# Owely

> Owely is a free expense-splitting app for iPhone and Android, made by Waypoint Labs. Groups of friends, roommates and travellers add shared expenses, see a running balance for each person and get suggested payments to settle up. No subscription, no ads and no limit on how many expenses you add.

Facts, as of 25 October 2026:

- Price: free. No subscription, no ads, no daily expense limit.
- Platforms: iPhone (App Store) and Android (Google Play). There is no web app.
- Sign-in: a one-time code sent to your email. No password.
- Groups: invite people with a link or code. Admins can manage members.
- Ways to split: equally, exact amounts, percentages, shares, and adjustments (an equal split with extra added for one person).
- Also included: receipt photos, expense categories, a trip budget, an activity feed, and suggested settle-up payments with simplified debts.
- Currencies: 20. An expense paid in another currency is converted into the group's currency at the day's exchange rate (rates by ExchangeRate-API), plus the group's bank fee, 2% by default; the rate is kept on the expense.
- Owely tracks balances. It does not hold or move money, and has no bank sync, recurring expenses, offline mode or Splitwise import.
- Compared with Splitwise: Splitwise's free plan allows up to 4 expenses a day and shows ads; Owely has neither. Splitwise has a web app, recurring expenses, offline entry and, with Pro, currency conversion and receipt scanning.
